Annapurna region in the north central of Nepal covers a series of thirteen 8000m peaks and sixteen 7000m peaks, including the 10th highest peak in the world Annapurna I (8091m). The entire Annapurna region, the first and largest conversation area of Nepal, is protected by the Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP). Its snow-capped peaks and tourist-friendly tea houses' facilities has attracted many trekkers and climbers every year.
The Annapurna Poon Hill trek is one of the most popular and shorter treks in the Annapurna region. It is suitable for first time high altitude trekkers and families. The short duration, moderate trekking route and elevation to 3210m serve as a good introductory trek to the Annapurna region and the Himalayas. The trek in the foothills of the Annapurna Himalaya takes you through beautiful Gurung villages, well-trodden village routes, farmlands and lush rhododendron forests. Along the route, the majestic peaks of Annapurna I (8091m), Annapurna South (7219m), Machapuchhre (6993m) and Hiunchuli (6441m) are often in view and offer an incredibly spectacular scenery of the snow-capped Himalayas' peaks.
